I guess it is about year since I became an OS X user ..
Actually, I fell in love with OS X from the first time I used it. Unfortunately, it was when I installed Hacked Leopard on my PC two years ago
However, after a lot of usage I found out that there some features that if it is added to OS X it will make it much more awesome than it is..
I mentioned one of them in a post before when I compared the OS X Dock and the Win7 new taskbar. It was the preview feature.
Ok here are another awesome features that I found out solutions for them..
First one was maximizing the windows to fill the screen. I really loved the way you can maximize the windows in win7 to make the window fill the screen or half of the screen! Fortunately, I found an OS X app that enables you to do so under Mac OS ![]()
It is called “Cinch”

After installing cinch, now just drag any window to the top edge of the screen to maximize it to fill the screen. Drag the window to the left/right edge of the screen to maximize the window to the half of your screen. Very simple but very useful
The Second! Finder is really cool, but I always felt that it misses something. I didn’t know what it is .. but I was sure that it is misses something. Till, I found TotalFinder

TotalFinder is a brilliant free – till now
– Finder plugin that has a lot of features. The best of them: the tabs and the visor.
With the visor feature, you can easily show the finder window with the shortcut Option + ` .. and tada .. the finder will show up in a very elegant way with your tabs opened! You can also pin the finder to the bottom of the screen with CMD+Shift+P

The Third feature is the launcher. I don’t like the spotlight and actually I’ve never used it except in rare situations when searching for a file. Quicksilver is an awesome free professional launcher.

Quicksilver comes with a lot of amazing plugins for almost every thing on your mac. However it needs time to get used to it and to know how to use it professionally. BTW, silverlight has amazing interfaces, I prefer the cube interface.
Quicksilver like spotlight, you can search for app, file or folder and launch it. However in spotlight you can only launch the app or open the file/folder. In Quicksilver after searching for the application, file or folder, press tab and search for an action .. action could be open, open with, preview, move to, …. etc. Also, there are more than just searching, you can run specific commands, search iTunes, safari history, safari bookmarks or address book, and more. It depends on the plugins you have installed. Very interesting and useful Addon to OS X actually.
Well, that is the top features that I can’t survive anymore without them
.. It will be amazing if apple integrated such features in their next version of Mac OS X.
If you know any other useful OS X apps that sounds cool, I’d be pleased if you shared them with me
